Sharon Bell is a Managing Director and Senior European Equity Strategist at Goldman Sachs – a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm.
Sharon’s work focuses on critical macroeconomic issues, such as the impact of zero interest rates and the effects of Brexit. Her clients are chief investment officers and portfolio managers in pension and insurance funds, hedge funds and other asset managers.
Sharon recently co-authored a paper titled ‘Bear Necessities’ about Bear markets through history and the main drivers of share price falls. She regularly appears on Bloomberg morning news as a financial markets expert, and hosted a session on the implications of Brexit at this year’s Goldman Sachs XVII European Hedge Fund Symposium. Prior to her time at Goldman Sachs, Sharon worked at the Bank of England and HSBC.
Sharon is passionate about supporting the careers of women in finance, and previously served as the co-head of Goldman’s European, Middle East, and Africa Women’s Network. Sharon holds a first-class BSc in Economics from the University of Bath, is a CFA Charterholder and lives in Cambridge with her husband, Martin, and two children, James and Emily.
